Hi, I'm Shannon O'Reilly

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey with experience providing both mental health and educational counseling to children and adolescents. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with youth who face a range of challenges. Whether your child is dealing with transitional changes, struggling with grades, having a tough time at school, navigating friendship troubles, or experiencing developmental and relational changes with their parents, I’m here to help. I also provide support for those grappling with anxiety and depression. Part of my experience has been guiding teens through the college admissions process from both a logistical and emotional standpoint. I have assisted with everything from decision-making about future plans to the nitty-gritty details of applying to colleges and completing the FAFSA.

I want to work alongside you as we explore and address the experiences that have influenced and continue to impact your life, no matter their scale. Together, we'll identify and focus on the goals that matter most to you. I’m committed to trying to create a supportive, trusting relationship for you where you feel safe to share openly. I approach my work with a strengths and solution-based mindset. This means we start by focusing on what’s already working and build from your existing strengths to tackle the issues you’re facing. I believe in making therapy a positive and engaging experience, so I often incorporate games, humor, and creative methods into our sessions. Whether we’re exploring your world through play or using other techniques, my goal is to make our time together both effective and enjoyable.

Want to know a little more about me? When I’m not working, you’ll often find me enjoying the outdoors—walking, biking, hiking, or just laying around. I love to play games and I love to learn about new ones, so please share! Traveling is something else I love and I’m always excited to explore new places. My trips have ranged from a road trip across the United States hiking 9 miles a day and sometimes sleeping in a Walmart parking lot, to hanging with the sloths and surfing in Costa Rica.
